HOW IT’S MADE:
The great thing about brass is it only gets better with age (like me).
Impeccably crafted, brass décor adds gravitas with subtle sparkle. That patina draws me in: it’s warm, shiny, glamorous—and don't get
me started on its versatility. Layer in twinkly accents or command the room with a single over-the-top objet.
Everything we make—from brass bibelots to surreal sculptures—starts its journey in our Soho pottery studio.
Clay prototypes are then sand-cast into brass by talented artisans. The result: permanent presence.
HERE’S HOW IT’S DONE.
JA and his team of potters sculpt the prototypes in our Soho studio. After rounds of refinement, it’s sent to our workshop, where a mould is created. Pieces are often broken down into various elements for casting purposes.
Here’s where the sand comes in: sand is poured over the mould into a “sandbox” to create a negative impression. The form is packed tightly and densely to prevent gaps, spillage, and cracks.
Our brass is heated in an underground furnace. Once it’s molten, the top is skimmed to remove any dark pieces.
Then the molten brass is poured into the mould, with care not to over or under fill the form. For roughly an hour, it’s left to cool and cure.
The sand is hammered and cracked open, revealing the finished product. Edges (and the tab where brass was poured) will be refined later in the process.
This same process is repeated for any other pieces needed for the individual product. Once created and cooled, components are carefully welded together minimizing the seams.
With a small dremel tool or sandpaper, pieces are sanded and finished, before being buffed and polished to perfection.
Our logo is applied using an acid-etching process. Once dried, each piece is given a clear protective topcoat for maximum durability.
ONE OF MY FAVORITES…
…is the Brass Dora Maar. Originally conceived in ethereal porcelain, it was an obvious choice for brass which takes it into a trippier and more futuristic realm. A reflective reverie for my favorite artists’ inspirations.
Our Giant Brass Orb proves that bigger is, in fact, better. This dynamic form, with its sinuous lines and reflective surface, can be displayed on multiple sides. Let it rule your cocktail table.BRING ON THE BRASS
